Summary – Updated Dec ’24
The Escape Game is a national chain that landed in Charlotte either late ’22 or early ’23. They’re a bit out of the city in Concord so it’s a drive if you’re a true Charlottean, but if you’re in University Area or coming from the north to shop at Concord Mills, it can make for a nice break in the day.
Our Experience
There is no question their set design is exceptional. We played The Depths and were blown away. It’s truly impressive what can be done when you have national scale and expert set designers on staff. It’s beautiful work!
But for as great as everything looked, we were really disappointed in the game play. Some of it was such a stretch, and they tried way too hard to incorporate technology that it was almost more of a video game than a hands-on escape room.
We just didn’t think the gameplay was very well thought out so we never went back.
Best Time to Go
Anytime when Concord Mills isn’t overrun with shoppers. The traffic can be a bit frustrating.
What Others Say
Only a couple years in the area, and they get glowing reviews. It’s not surprising. Their set designs are truly top notch!
